How do I schedule monthly AI spend reports?

Set up automated report delivery to your finance team. One-time config — Cognocient generates the report on schedule and emails it with no login required.

Goal: Finance team receives a PDF report on a recurring schedule — spend, waste recovery, AI Efficiency Score, and AI-written narrative — without anyone having to remember to generate it.

Time: 5 minutes to configure.

Plan required: Growth plan or above. One-off reports are available on all plans.

Step 1 — Generate a one-off report first

Before setting up scheduled delivery, generate a manual report to confirm the data looks right.

Go to Reports → Generate Report:

Select the month
Choose a narrative tone:
- Board / CFO — ROI framing, strategic language, efficiency score
- Technical Finance — waste categories, model costs, exact dollar recovery
- Engineering — cost-per-feature, optimization opportunities, model breakdown

The narrative is written by whichever AI provider you have connected (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Azure OpenAI, in that preference order) — not a fixed template. Every report reflects your actual spend trends, waste recovered, and recommendations for the period.

Step 2 — Set up scheduled delivery

Go to Reports → Scheduled Delivery and toggle Enable scheduled delivery. Fill in:

Report type	AI ROI Summary (1 page) or Full Detail Report
Narrative tone	Board / CFO (recommended for finance teams)
Recipients	Finance team email addresses
Require approval before sending	Optional — routes the report to a named approver first; they confirm before it goes to recipients

There's no separate date-range picker or CC field — the period is implied by the frequency, and every address you want a copy goes in Recipients.

Click Save settings. The report generates and sends automatically on the schedule you configured — there's no separate "Edit" screen; this same panel is where you make future changes.

Recipients receive the PDF as an email attachment. They do not need a Cognocient login to open it.

Step 3 — What's included in each scheduled report

AI Efficiency Score	Cost per outcome in dollars, with a month-over-month trend — not a 0–100 composite score
Top features by spend	Ranked by spend with investment/waste classification

The Full Detail Report option adds line-item depth beyond the 1-page ROI Summary; both share the same narrative-tone and data foundation.

Step 4 — Update recipients, tone, or frequency

Go back to Reports → Scheduled Delivery, change any field, and click Save settings — the same panel you used to set it up. Changes take effect on the next scheduled run.

To pause delivery, toggle Enable scheduled delivery off. The rest of your configuration is preserved for when you turn it back on.

Troubleshooting: report not received

Check spam.
Confirm Enable scheduled delivery is still toggled on and your recipient addresses are correct — there's no separate delivery-history or resend view today, so re-check the configuration itself first.
